Unpredictable Outcomes of my Personal Gaming Experience, 2012

- Enjoying not just one shooter, but several (Bulletstorm, Borderlands 2, Mass Effect)
- Taking the ultra-stealthy approach and liking it (Dishonored)
- Sniping ♥ (thanks to Borderlands 2)
- Erring on the side of skepticism/criticism towards indie games

If you don’t know anything about me as a gamer, I am usually a big, dumb, hack n’ slash melee player who throws muscle at enemies until the problem goes away. I never take the stealth class. I despised sniping because it was too hard for me. Borderlands was my only foray into any kind of shooter at the beginning of the year, and that was because it was rude and had tons of SMGs and Assault Rifles with which to cut down my foes. But here I am at the end of 2012 thinking about how much I enjoy sniping and the challenge of a stealth class with a lot of ways to “solve problems.”

It’s really a pity about indie games right now, though. Enough with the 2D sidescrollers, the platformers, the horror games. Enough with your excessive Kickstarters and Indiegogo campaigns. Enough with your casual flash game attitude. Thatgamecompany took us back to a level of legitimacy with Journey that short and sweet indie games are supposed to have. You know who else is an indie game developer? Insomniac Games. Holla. <3 They compete with the big boys. Indie doesn’t have to be what it is right now, and all this flash-inspired badness will get no more of my money.

Me and My Boyfriend on Diablo III

 • K: "I think we can agree that Diablo III was a complete flop."
 • B: "Well it wasn't a COMPLETE flop-"
 • K: "Okay, it was like an 80% flop."
 • B: "...Okay."

A Freelancer from Chrono Trigger -
Hurr freelancer! Like meee.I hate these guys in-game but I was fascinated by the idea of some kind of ninja or samurai being a bird instead of an animal that is stealthy by nature. Was watching my bf play the PS version (even though I bought it for me.) I spent a good 20 minutes researching and trying to understand the game sprite and the proper way to hold a katana, lol.

Every artist who sees this post should do the following:

- Watch the video.

- Follow the instructions

- Reblog

I can’t stress you enough about how important these exercises are for your drawing hand. You don’t wanna get CTS of Tendonitis and similar stuff that will prevent you from making art or even hold a pencil.

Okay, this guy is my fucking HERO. I just did these exercises as I watched the video, and already my arms and hands feel better. I have a degenerative tendon disease that prevents my muscles, tendons and ligaments from retaining their elasticity, and so anything that maintains the health of my bendy parts is important.

I URGE YOU. Even if you don’t draw, do these several times a day. Even just sitting at a computer can do serious damage. My dad, who was a rugby player, a carpenter, and now a handyman, suffered from severe carpal tunnel syndrome, simply as a result of sitting at the computer at the end of the day to play a little solitaire. Don’t let it happen to you!

((Guys, I will reblog this like, 5 times a day just so you all will see this. This is REALLY helpful, and it’s quick and easy.))

Wow, these are REALLY helpful. And yes, this is not just good but IMPORTANT for more than artists — if you type a lot, play a lot of video games, do anything that requires lots of repetitive movements of your hands, wrists, and arms (gardening, sewing, factory work), these can help. Even if you don’t yet get pain these are a great preventative measure, because the damage builds up over time. Youth is no protection.

And like he says, you should feel a stretch, but don’t push it too far!

Omg why don’t they encourage us to do this kind of thing before drawing classes in college!? Also, all the time ever. Some big video game vlogger/caster needs to get this out there too.
This is the kind of thing I wanted to know about being an artist, btw. How to keep from getting lower back problems/carpal tunnel/tendonitis, etc. I hear that getting the right drawing table and the right height chair/table helps prevent back pain especially.

Remember that taking breaks ≠ laziness. When I was in college, I always set a deadline for when I needed to go to bed for this very reason - if you don’t get enough sleep, or you don’t pace yourself, you’re not taking care of your body or your mind.

A healthy artist is a “happy” artist.

Final Fantasy 9 - Square Enix - Miscellaneous Things
Some of my favorite-looking things from FF9. We have yet to encounter a Gimme Cat. :C

Freya is so boss.
EDIT: How could I forget Regent Oglop Cid?!

Generic Fantasy (lol)I’m watching my bf play FF9 and thinking about the way that fantasy RPGs (JRPGs in particular) are constructed, party-wise. At first there was always a weenie bitch caster/healer who your main character (a boy) always fell in love with. Thankfully that stereotype is kind of changing, and it’s less predictably a complete pain in the ass.
Anyway I drew this in response. From left to right:-The Main Character (M/F) - DPS - either a boy or girl (sometimes you get a choice! Yay 21st century) with a relatively large weapon, usually a hammer or sword. Hair is choice of ridiculously spiky or weirdly long.-The Big Guy - Tank - usually a man, sometimes an Amazonian woman. Usually equipped with sword/spear and shield. Often comes paired with a very “weak” character in the story to flesh out your team.-The Mysterious Person - Ranged DPS - Usually non-human. Unusual/high-fantasy/sci-fi origin. Unusually tall or slim. Uses staves/spears. Uniquely androgynous but also somehow attractive. Probably doesn’t talk much. Probably everyone’s favorite character aside from main character.-The Short Quirky Thing - Support - Often non-human, cute race with some kind of animal part. Adorably naive. Probably annoying. Uses a nontraditional weapon such as an oversized every day object, or no weapon at all. Probably also has a backpack or something. May also heal but probably not as good as That Bitch (see below.)-The Dwarf - DPS/Support - Shorter but large. Gruff, but they grow on you. Often tries to hide emotions behind rough exterior. Uses unusual weapon such as fist weapons, books, or if it’s a particularly unimaginative game, a hammer. May or may not be an alcoholic. Cracks wise. Curses.-That Bitch - Ranged/Caster/Healer/Summoner - The most annoying and most necessary in your party, because she is the best healer, the only summoner, etc. Your main character rescues her at some point and/or she’s your best friend from the beginning. Will definitely be stolen from you at some point in the game, leaving you without your strongest healer. Probably uses a bow and arrow or some weird semi-ranged thing like a crossbow/sports equipment. If healer, may have staff but will never use. Dies frequently and without warning.
